FAQ

In this page we answer some of the most frequently asked questions. However, it's important that you carefully read the full rules.

What is ConstellAds and how do the competitions work?

Creators edit short ad videos for a brand using the assets provided and any video or voice-over you create yourself. You upload your video to ConstellAds, then we run all submissions as real ads on platforms like Meta or TikTok with a test budget. The ads compete based on performance on the ad platform. We look at views, purchases, and the cost to acquire a new customer. The top performer wins the prize.

How much can I win?

The competition prizes are often in the thousands of dollars. Not bad for a single video edit, huh? You can see the active competitions on the Dashboard after signing up.

What makes a winning video?

A winning video does three things well:

  1. Makes people stop. Strong hook in the first 1–2 seconds that stops you from scrolling. Use an unusual visual, bold claim, pattern break, or quick transition.
  2. Makes people click. Tease value and hold back just enough detail so viewers want to visit the site. Use a clear benefit, offer, or curiosity gap plus a clear call to action.
  3. Makes people buy. Reinforce real benefits, show proof or results, and make next steps obvious so the site can close the sale.

How can I get inspiration for a video?

Watch ads in the wild on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. Save the ones that made you stop, click, or want to buy and analyze why.

Browse live ads in the libraries:

Pro tip: check past ConstellAds competitions to see real submissions and performance, then think how you would improve them.

What assets do brands provide and what am I expected to create?

Brands share product clips, UGC, logos, and other brand assets. You can use these and you can add your own material like voice-over, on-camera talk, unboxing, screen captures, motion graphics, or AI-generated elements.

Can I get a product for filming?

Yes. Competition winners receive a free product from the brand for future videos.

Can I use stock footage, music, or AI generated content?

Yes, as long as you have the right to use it. Make sure licenses cover advertising use, and get any needed model or property releases.

How is the winner chosen and what metrics matter?

We rely on actual ad platform performance. Platforms optimize delivery to the best ads. The main metric is cost per acquisition (CPA), which is the ad spend divided by the number of new customers from that ad. For example, if your $200 is spent on your ad and it brings 5 new customers to the brand, the CPA is $40. The lower the CPA the better. We calculate CPA for each ad after it reaches 5 purchases. If no ad reaches 5 purchases, the winner is the ad with the most impressions, in other words, the ads shown the most.

What is the Beat the Brand variant and how does it affect prizes?

In Beat the Brand, your ads compete against the brand’s own best-performing ads. The prize is paid only if a creator’s ad beats the brand’s benchmark. These contests are popular because they usually offer much higher cash prizes.

When are winners announced and how will I be notified?

We post winners on the competition page and email all participants with the results.

How and when do payouts happen?

We pay via PayPal within 14 days of the winner announcement. You need a working, verified PayPal account.

Who owns the rights to my submission after I upload it? Can I post it on my own channels later?

Usage rights are reassigned to the brand so they can run and reuse the ad. You may post your video on your own channels after it passes brand review. Do not share unreleased brand assets or claims that the brand has not approved.

Can I submit the same video on another competition again?

No. Each submission must be a new video. You can upload an improved edit of a previous idea, but exact or near-duplicate entries are not allowed. ConstellAds determines what counts as a duplicate.
